Pop Culture to me is something that is what is popular now or a "fad". This could include books, movies, television shows or music. It is what the majority of society believes to be "in".
Pop culture effects me everyday. It determines what is playing on my favorite radio station, what is showing on television or even what is in the magazines that I read.
It's amazing how big of a cultural sensation the Twilight movies have become. I read the books when they first came out and enjoyed them but never expected them to become the phenomenon that they have become. I have seen the movies and was surprised at the behavior of grown adults during the movie. This movie series is a great example of pop culture.
ReplyDeleteI love the movies as well, and I'm 25 years old:) I agree that it was generally towards teens, but got hits from all ages. Wish I would read all the books, just dont have the meantality to sit and read.
ReplyDeleteTammy, you hit the nail right on the head with the pop culture of Twilight. Not only do the books have a huge following but the movies do as well. Further, I love how you have personalized your blog space. It says to me that you are a happy, bubbly person and in tune with current trends.
ReplyDeleteTwilight is definately a popular trend right now. I, honestly, am one that has never read or watch the movies. I have no desire to and do not understand the hype. I do not fit in with this trend but my friends, who are 27, sure do! I think it is great to have such a variety in age interested in the same thing.

ReplyDeleteYou make a good statement about the series Twilight. If one were to consider all the vampire movies, television shows and books that are out there now because of the Twilight series, it is truly amazing. I have not read the series, but I am amazed at all the copy-cat television and movie roles that are out there now.
I wanted to post on your blog because Twilight is awesome. Also, for many years I never watched the movies. I told everyone I thought they were stupid and never wanted to see them. Finally my sister made me watch the first one, then I was hooked. I have seen all of the movies now and I think they are all great. I totally agree that the movies were originally geared towards teenagers but it seems to of touched all ages.
ReplyDeleteI think this is an interesting choice for your artifact. I've found the sensation around this series to be constantly amazing. The point where people were walking around in "Team _____" shirts at one point really showed how infections things like this can be when they succeed in multiple mediums.
